Please tell me that they changed the title of "Black Demon" to something on that list... I absolutely loved that song from the live bootlegs we have. It seemed like a standout and "I am in love with you/but it is a jealous love" is just a perfect lyric in my view.
Glad to see "NYC Hotel Blues" and "I Do" still in there though. Also interested to hear how "Lunatic, Lunatic, Lunatic" sounds in its fully arranged form. |

Thanks for this! I'm really excite for Freak Flight Speed. Interesting to see Bubbleprick isn't on there, but having a version of that means I don't mind that much. I cannot wait to see them on April 28th in Bloomington to hopefully get a better idea of the sound of some of the ones i haven't heard yet!

Hello again,
For one reason or another, "Black Demon" fell out of favor early on, and we didn't end up recording it. My friend Kenny and I have been sending a version back and fourth for the panic attacks thing. But, as always, who knows how long it'll take us to get it finished. I like the song though, and hope to do a version of it soon. I'll try to find the "vegetables" full band demo of it and put it up on mft or something. There's also still a chance that a new recording of "bubbleprick" will end up on the record. Other than that, the tracklist has been set. "My baby cares for the animals" has been axed, and will be a b-side, I suppose. The two new songs ("will you love me forever?" and "Claws off") turned out really well, and might actually end up being the "singles". Kind of surprising how that worked out. "WYLMF" is a kind big star-y rock song, and "Claws" begins kind of similarly to "Schubas", then goes somewhere very different for margot when the chorus comes in. Tim Rutili and Ronnie played guitar on them. Brian's daughter sings on the chorus of "WYLMF". Thanks for being patient, I think we are finally headed into the home stretch. Overall, "Buzzard" feels like the anti "animal". High energy, and really catchy (at least in my opinion). I'm super excited for an eventual listening party, or something new, to start sharing these songs. I'm happy with the album. |

So good to hear about all of this Richard. Excited about the 2 new songs for sure!
If you guys still end up doing the b-sides/rarities disc, it sounds like you'll have some great songs saved up for that as well.

Latest update on their new Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Margot-the-Nuclear-So-and-Sos/110817058938538?ref=ts) indicates that "Claws Off" is mixed and will be the first single. Looking forward to hearing it whenever it approaches a formal release.
Also, posting the "Black Demon" demo on MFT would be amazing.

I missed Francine, but love the two songs that are up there now! So happy to hear the new version of "Payphone" though I do like the rock and rawness of the version that I have. I'll be there on the 28th too. Should be awesome!

So happy to have heard a nice acoustic version of Payphone. The new Crackin' Rib Bones song is really neat too. I agree that the melody is really awesome. I've been fortunate to have heard Francine, and wish I could again. There is a really nasty guitar part with a bunch of tri tone sounding chords and it was brutal. Plus the back up vocal/harmonies fit really nicely.

Hey Richard, do you think you will ever post an acoustic version or demo of carnival...If you even have one, I think that song would be really great to hear acoustically. Just a thought.
